10 Guiding Principles
|
- 1-Providing information is the first step to awareness but it is not necessarily followed by action: We will not pat ourselves on the back for simply passing out flyers; without concrete steps to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns, the only thing we’ll have contributed to the environment is more paper to be recycled.
- 2-Our strategy is to work in partnership and not in competition with local and international organizations and entities (profit and not-for-profit, government and private) towards a common goal.
- 3-We aim to include all segments of society in our activities: women and men, nationals and expatriates, the educated and less privileged.
- 4-We cannot wait 20 years for the planted seed to become a tree: While we believe that the young generation is the future, we also believe that change must begin today and that individuals of all ages can be empowered to participate.
- 5-Our ideas must be fresh and our communication methods in keeping with innovative technology.
- 6-We believe in a preventative rather than responsive strategy, wherever possible.
- 7-We are motivated by the slogan “Think Global, Act Local” which drives us to care about global environmental issues and work locally to address them.
- 8-We believe in the power of the Media. The more media coverage there is, the wider our message will spread.
- 9-We focus on sustainability. The support provided for recyclers is continuous; we keep in contact and follow up long after they have signed up for our campaigns.
- 10-We dream big: we seek to spread our campaigns across the entire city, if not beyond. We choose our partners and design our campaign strategies based on having the biggest effect and largest impact.
