Why should my organization recycle? |
Corporate Social Responsibility |
Organizations are increasingly expected to take responsibility for the impact of their activities in all areas of operation, including the consumption of natural recources and the production and disposal of waste. Recycling is just one way of doing your part for your community and for the environment. |
Improved Employee Relations |
Recycling is an activity that all employees can get involved in and that generally boosts employee morale. When employees feel good about themselves and their workplace their loyalty increases and so does their productivity. |
Increased Efficiency |
Recycling programs encourage employees and organizations to switch to electronic transactions whenever possible and to reduce the amount of resources, including paper that is consumed. Less paper means less clutter, less bureaucracy, and more efficiency. |
Because it looks Good |
The environment is one of the most urgent issues on the local and global agenda. Quite simply, if your organization takes steps to protect the environment, it reflects positively on your image and results in increased customer loyalty and satisfaction. |

How can my organization start recycling? |
1.Convince senior management to support a recycling program at your organization. |
2.Sign a contract with a recycling company to pick up the recycled materials regularly:
- Make sure the company provides you with large external collection bins.
- Place the bins where it is easy for the company and the custodial staff to reach.
|
3.Identify the number of bins needed in your offices to collect recycled materials and put them in convenient locations-contact Recycle You City for bins.
|
4.Get your colleagues interested-without them, the papers won’t reach the bins! Motivate employees and remind them that they will be the reason behind the success of the program-Recycle Your City provides continuously updated materials.
|
5.Make sure the custodial staff knows what these bins are for and how to dispose the paper waste in their appropriate location; also think of incentives and rewards for the custodial staff
Tip: Using white plastic bags for paper and black bags for other trash will help keep paper separate from other waste.
|
6.Adopt measures to reduce paper consumption and reuse paper before it is recycled
- Promote “ think before you print”.
- Communicate by internal e-mail.
- Ask clients if they prefer to receive their statement electronically rather than by mail or fax.
- Print using both sides of the paper of use the other side for writing drafts or leaving messages.
|
7.Organize a press conference to declare that your organization is taking an active role in recycling and invite employees to an inauguration party
|
8.Oversee the program and invite employees to make sure it is running.
